Information:
NAYCO Gambia was founded in 1999 as the umbrella organisation
bringing together the various disparate institutions for the
young. The ideas to bring together the various groups came
from leaders of the various NGO youth movements around the
country who were in Brikama
Town during the celebration of the Day of the African Child.
After setting up the National Association of Youth and Children
Organization its members have campaigned and lobbied for the
greater participation of young people in policy issues that has
an affect on the lives.
Their main areas of intervention is assisting youths the
world of work via internships, advocating and workshops on child
welfare and rights, strengthening existing networks between
groups and capacity building.
NAYCO works with various national and international organisations
such as National AIDS Control Programme, UNICEF,
The Child Fund, the Food
& Nutrition Agency and others.
