Information:
The University of The Gambia Library and Information Services
is an academic library which provides educational and teaching
materials to the university of The Gambia. It aims to provide
all reading materials in all available formats such as paper,
film and digital.
To make finding a book much easier the books are shelved according
to the Dewey Decimal Classification System (DDC).
The main library is at the Brikama Campus while subsidiary
branches are at the Business and Law Library in Kanifing and
the Medical and Health Sciences Library in Gambia's capital,
Banjul.
It stocks curriculum recommended textbooks on the courses
provided at the University. Their collection includes reference
books such as directories, dictionaries as well as newspapers,
fiction, CD-ROMs, journals etc. There are also a number of
databases which the library subscribes to such as TEEAL, OARE,
JSTOR, AGORA, HINARI, LexisNexis, Medscape and others.
All registered students of the University have complete access
and borrowing privileges to the materials stored in the library.
If you want to borrow a book you must produce you UTG ID card
and renewals are possible as long as they are not requested
by another borrower and you have stayed within the rules and
guidelines.
There are computers loaded with Microsoft Office as well as
providing access to the internet as well as photocopying facilities.
