Review:
Also known as the
Djaliba or Jaliba Hotel
it is a newly built 3 star
accommodation very close
to a quiet section of Kololi beach.
The complex, which is open
365 days of the year,
is conveniently situated
near the end of a tarmac
side road and just a few
minutes walk to a
multitude of eateries as
well as discotheques,
shops, supermarkets and
other local amenities.
As you approach the
hotel you are welcomed
by a large, well lighted
concrete slab walkway
which leads to the main
reception. Above it
there is a rather
striking, violet
bowl structure on top.
In fact the entire hotel
is splashed in various
pastel colours like
orange, yellow, light
blue, ochre etc.
The pool is a rather
boring rectangle shape
while some of the sun beds are
truly one-of-a-kind, wooden with 4
posters with an
attached, all
surrounding insect net!
The room options vary
from standard to
self-catering which are
clean with good good
quality imported furnishings.
The accommodation units are light and
airy with large sliding
windows and high
ceilings allowing for
optimal air circulation
for your comfort. For
flexibility Djeliba
Hotel's rooms come with the
option of double or
single beds. For rooms
on the upper floors you
can enjoy some great
views from your own
private veranda.
Just after you check-in
you should try their
bathhouse where they
offer an invigorating
Moroccan Hammam spa
where you can unwind
while being gently
steam, wash yourself
from basins and taps as
well as receive a
rigorous scrubbing.
Drinks:
There are 3 well
appointed bars within
the hotel grounds which
are open all day so you
should never go thirsty.
The lounge bar has
comfortable seating, a
multi channel TV and
various games to keep
you entertained while
snacks are also
available. The
bartenders offer a wide
array of popular
cocktails including
local concoctions using
locally pressed tropical
fruits. Try their
refreshing Piņa Colada,
Singapore Sling or
Martinis. You
might just fancy trying
the multi award winning
locally produced beer
called Julbrew.
Fine Dining:
Djeliba Hotel has a team
of multi-skilled chefs
de cuisine who offer a
broad menu selection
which covers continental
our very own local
Gambian cuisine.
Breakfast, lunch and
dinner is served at
their canary yellow
coloured restaurant
which carefully monitors
all its ingredients to
ensure that high
culinary standards are
maintained for their
guests.
BBQ:
These are held every
Saturday and Wednesday
within hotel grounds and
offer an opportunity for
guests to get acquainted
with each other. Choose
from the succulently
grilled lady fish, meaty
barracuda or nicely
marinated chicken.
Music & Dance:
Every Saturday and
Friday their internally
employed band beats out
some old classics as
well a some popular
tracks. This is done in
the open-air so don't
expect an early night's
sleep.
The Djeliba Hotel
is ideally suited for
families, single
visitors or people on
business trips to the
Gambia.
