As befits the name direct scheduled flights from Belgium's Brussels
International Airport (BRU) at Zaventem to
Banjul is operated by the national carrier Brussels Airlines
which flies outward bound on Thursday & Sunday in 2010 / 2011.
From the 15.09.09 Lufthansa and Brussels Airlines expanded their
codesharing services on long-haul routes to West Africa. From now on,
Lufthansa passengers will have a choice of four additional
destinations and seven new connections from Bruxelles among which are
Banjul, Abidjan (Ivory Coast), Douala und Yaunde (both Cameroon),
Monrovia (Liberia).
For flying passengers this gives you the added option of not just the
standard 7 or 14 night stays in Gambia but durations of 10 or 11
nights can be accommodated for in your travel plans.
To
show the point you can board your departure flight to Banjul (Yundum) from
Brussels Welcome to Europe (Terminal / Pier B) on a Sunday
for 11 nights and make your return journey on a Thursday.
Likewise you may choose to make your outbound journey for 10 nights
on a Thursday and make your return trip on a Sunday. This factor as
well as its geographical location means it can be used as a transit
connection airport with other routes whose airlines are departing
from Frankfurt, Germany, the rest of the EU, USA or the Eastern
Europe countries en route to Gambia.
