Information:
The Core
Comprehensive Senior Secondary School was established in 2000. They
prepare students between 12 and 15 up to 17 and 18 for programs
leading to the award of a school certificate. After the official
examinations.
The school is due to transfer to Kotu due to the demand for places at
the school and the rising local population. Currently class sizes can
be between 50 to 60 children in one classroom.
The school has a student role of 750 pupils and about 30 teachers
on the staff with 25 certified teachers (Higher Teachers Certificate
and University Degrees
The school year extends from September to
July and is staggered into 3 terms of 3 months.
Courses:
Junior Secondary
School Program (GABEC):
They enroll students of age 12 and prepare them for three
years and they sit the GABEC examinations. (Gambia basic education certificate - Government Organization)
West African Senior Secondary School (WASSCE):
They prepare students between 14 and 15 up to 17 and 18 for
three years program leading to the award of the certificate.
After the official examinations. This is equivalent to the GCE
ordinary level.
