Horticultural Enterprises Co. Ltd (GHE) is an agri-business company incorporated in
Banjul in
1990. The firm has been in the agricultural exporting business for over 18
years now and has over the years acquired over 247 acres of farmland and
now employs over
60 members of staff.
The proprietor and managing director is Mr.
Momodou A. Ceesay who has trained in Australia and New Zealand up to
MSc degree level. His office and garden centre are located at the
front of his private house which is on the main road to Banjul.
Fruits & Veg. GHE is a
key Gambian producer and exporter of out-of-season tropical
fruits and crop vegetables
which includes mangos, French beans, hot chilies (Capsicum annuum),
Pawpaw, lemons, aubergines, water melons and squashes and
freshly cut flowers. Its markets are primarily to European countries
such as the UK, Netherlands,
France and the rest of the EU. A significant proportion of its sales
are in the supply of seed inputs to the local market.
Farming Implements: The company is also the Gambia's main distributor of agricultural equipment
and farming inputs which includes agro-chemicals such as pesticides,
fertilisers, fumigants, herbicides as well as farm and botanical seeds. The firm also has a
garden centre which sells locally
produced Gambian honey, vegetables, fruit, Wonjo and imported
drinks.
Pest Control:
Gambia Horticultural Enterprises also has a professional, registered pest control unit
that aims to use its expertise to eradicate problems caused by cockroaches, termites, rats
and mice. They also sell rat poisons, traps and spray chemicals
against insect pests. There is also a team of professional landscapers
for hire for major establishments such as hotels and
restaurants.
