Information: The
Kombo Farms meat factory is a beef & dairy producer & meat processing
factory which aims to produce premium quality milk produce and beef
for local consumption.
Their meat is handled and processed under strict hygienic conditions
and is hung in chiller rooms to produce tenderness and quality for
distribution to the general consumer market, restaurant, supermarkets
& hotels.
Their
milk is produced in modern, hygienic conditions and to reduce the
chances of food poisoning it is pasteurised.
They also have a butcher's deli counter selling sirloin, rump steaks,
silverside, mince and fillet steaks.
In mid 2005 Kombo Farms Ltd. started a beef and dairy business
venture, employing 40 staff, which aims to become the initially founded high-quality milk
and beef producing enterprise in The Gambia.
Despite the fact that dairy milk is a good source of protein and
sustenance it is beyond the means of most families. Almost all the
milk that is drunk in the Gambia is brought in from overseas while
most of the remainder is produced in less than hygienic conditions.
Milk is one of the most nutritious sources of protein and energy, and
yet it is out of reach of the average Gambian.
