Biography: Rankin Fire (a.k.a.
Fireman, real name Momodou Lamin Leigh) was born in Bakau -
small town on the west coast of The Gambia. He had
previously helped form the group called Born Africans in
1995 which dominated the Reggae musical arena in The Gambia with
two album his titled "Praises" and "No More War". However,
the band soon broke up after two of its members left 2000.
At this point he decided to start on his own as a solo
artist. He has since however, started his own group called Firesquad and is now living in Malmo, Sweden.
His name would come as no surprise anyone who would see him
on stage, his energy is like a roaring tiger.
His first album is a mix of different flavour
of music ranging from Reggae, Dancehall, Hip Hop and some
Mbalax.
As well as being an artist, Ranking Fire is also a promoter who organises
concerts to promote talented,
upcoming artists and the musical culture of The Gambia.
Firesquad Members:
They include some well known Gambian artists who are Prince
Biggie, Junior K, Preacher and Raggamuffi Shame.
