Information:
The PHRDC is a registered non-governmental health research organisation which gained NGO status in 2006.

The Centre for Innovation Against Malaria in Gambia (CIAM) is a research institute specialising in public health issues such as malaria, HIV / Aids & related diseases such as TB and anaemia. The centre also carries out evaluation and monitoring of large scale nationwide programmes in the region of West Africa as well as provide technical backup.

CIAM began as a facet of an Africa wide malaria research and capacity building joint program called The Gates Malaria Partnership (GMP). This partnership is financed by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and functioning under the stewardship of the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine. In 2001 the Gates Malaria Partnership established The Centre for Innovation Against Malaria.

CIAM's local partners are the Medical Research Council (MRC) and The Gambia National Malaria Control Programme (NMCP) which it has worked with since 2001.
