Information:
Friends of The Gambia Association is a Banjul and UK registered charity which was founded on July 22, 1995 and gained the status of a non-governmental organisation (NGO) in the year 2000.

FoTGA is a humanitarian organisation whose main focus is on promoting education, alleviating poverty and supporting healthcare services.

Agriculture & Food:
• Kaur rice milling machine

• Nioro Women's Garden Project

• Njolfen Ram Fattening Scheme

• Rice to sponsored children's families

Education Projects:
The charity has managed to build or rehabilitate over 10 schools for children from 3 year olds in nursery through primary and secondary covering 6 up to 15 years olds.

Among these are the nursery schools called Bafuloto, Bakendik, Brikama, Brufut Caledonian, Challa (kitchen), Hanne Vibbe, Maka Ali Sarr & Yuna Nursery School. They have also completed Balanherr , Banjul Upper Basic, Bijilo Lower Basic, Brufut Lower Basic schools.

The Friends of The Gambia Association also uses any sponsorship money left over after a child has had their fees, lunch, uniforms, books etc. paid to to cover certain costs and contingencies. Examples are to pay the salaries of their staff in their Kotu head office, the continued sponsoring of children whose sponsors have stopped paying, the administration of the sponsorship scheme in the UK, bursary for children who are suffering illness or extreme hardship and to assist schools in emergencies e.g. to repair classrooms or desks and chairs.

Humanitarian Aid:
This can take the form of funding for urgent medical treatment or food for under-nourished babies etc.

• Sukuta Health Centre

Membership & Sponsorship:
As a school sponsor you will receive regular school reports and a thank you letter from the parents or guardians of the child. You can communicate or visit the child here in the Gambia as well.
