Information:
ISRA (Gambia) is a Banjul registered non-governmental
organisation which was established in 1991 to provide
aid assistance to the poor and to raise the economic
and social status of the underprivileged people, particularly
women, living in rural communities. This is carried
out by making available loans for various enterprises
and skills training to promote self-employment, improve
productivity and increase opportunities for finding
work.
The Islamic Relief Association also undertakes sensitization
workshops to make people aware of detrimental practices
such as drug addiction, prostitution, FGM, domestic
violence etc.
Thirdly they have a mandate to assist orphans and street
children.
Finally they aim to preserve and promote more environmental
awareness, forestry preservation and tree planting schemes. |
