History:
The station opened in 1984 and is the main training and recruitment
centre for local firefighters.
 Since 1991 the
Gambia Fires Services has been in partnership with the Avon Fire
Services of the UK (GAFSIP).
They have provide it with redundant but serviceable fire
engines and related equipment such as ladders. AVS also provides
occasional training to employees at the Bakau depot.
