Background Information:
The Shaykh
Mahfous Institute of Professional Studies is a subsidiary of
Muslim
Hands Gambia a Charitable organization Reg. No. 159/1993. This
Institute has been operation in the Gambia since 1999, then called
Muslim Hands Computer and Business Training Centre. Now named after a
19th century Sufi Master and Scholar, Shaykh Mahfous Hydara.
The college offers student courses in Civil Engineering, Building
Construction, Architectural Design Technology and Quantity Surveying,
in which students earn both National and International Certificates.
Shaykh Mahfous Institute has now launched its Certificate, Diploma and
Higher Diploma in Civil Engineering, Building Construction and other
Engineering related fields in September 2007 and is on the process of
getting BTEC and Edexcel accreditation for OND, NHC and HND
Qualifications.
The institute is officially registered with the National Training Authority (NTA)
which is under the
Department of State for Higher Education, Research
Science and Technology, as well as External Examination Bodies which
includes among others the Association of Business Executives (ABE) and
the London Centre of Marketing (LCM).
