Galleries: There are a number local art galleries from Banjul and down along the coast from Fajara to Kombo South. Among these cultural institutions are the Tumbung Art Village (an open-air studio) in Tujereng, Lemonfish Gallery in Kartung, African Living Art Centre in Fajara, the African Heritage Gallery in Cape Point, Gaya in Kololi. There is also the cultural centre in Serrekunda's Kairaba Avenue called the Alliance-Francais Gambienne who have been actively engaged in encouraging, exposing and sponsoring young talent by organising regular art exhibitions to give them an opportunity to display their latest works. Indeed, the first significant public exhibition was held at the centre in the early 1970s when it was located in the capital of Banjul. Lemonfish also plays a pivotal role in supporting young Gambian artists through its public exhibitions.
