The union of Gambian musicians called MUSIGAM was formed on Friday May
2, 2008. Its president is Sulay Sowe (Saul). The forerunner
of the union was GAMMA (the Gambian's Musicians Association
) formed in 2006.
The union's core objectives are to raise the status of
musicians in Gambia. To enhance the profile of Gambian music
and culture, to set a reasonable rate of pay for artist and
to carry out cultural exchanges with world musicians and
academics.
Members can benefit from international co-operation and
assistance by connecting with other strong, international
financial institutions and musical organisations.
