Information:
The (GID)
Department of Immigration deals with visa extensions, migrant's work permits,
immigrants' id cards, passport issuances and residency papers
for expatriates.
A section was established in early 2008 called the Professional
Standards Unit (Complaints and Discipline Unit). Among
its other function the
office would also
allow Gambians and non-Gambians whose rights may be
abused by immigration officers the opportunity to
