A regulation that set up the board is
intended to encourage businesses to hire qualified Gambian
staff. For hiring an expatriate, they are required to pay
around D1,800 tax annually.

A new
unit was created in March 2008 called the Professional
Standards Unit (Complaints and Discipline Unit), also
known as the Complaints Unit. The unit would also
accord Gambians and non-Gambians whose rights may be
abused by immigration officers the opportunity to
report their grievances or complaints.

The service was set up to guide Gambian business persons in all areas of business
management so as to improve the productivity of their
businesses. It is focused on the development of small scale
entrepreneurship in the country and provides them with
